G004258 "WÜRTTEMBERG" EM/NCO'S BELT BUCKLE. (Koppelschloß) A 2 1/2" x 1 7/8", slightly convex, stamped metal box-buckle, to the center of whose otherwise plain obverse is embossed a 1 11/16" diameter face plate. The plate features the coat of arms of the state of Württemberg to its domed center, encompassed by a dual rope-like border within which, against a ribbed background, is "Furchtlos Und Trew" (Fearless And Loyal) with a six-pointed star to the base. To the reverse of the buckle may be seen a metal prong bar with dual prongs, for the retaining tongue of a belt, as well as the two spots where the, absent, raised buckle catch was attached. "JD 16," which are most likely the manufacturer’s initials and the date of manufacturer, is stamped beneath the prong bar. A white patina is to the recesses of the reverse, and both faces are age soiled, dulled and lightly surface scratched.
