G003359 HUNGARIAN PRE-1914 SERVICE TUNIC. Nice quality, dark blue wool construction tunic features a eight button double breasted (with eight buttons to the other side as well) button front closure. Buttons all the the numbers "2" Regimental numbers on them. Tunic has ornamental red wool waffenfarbe down the full length of the left front closure panel edge, down the bottom half of the right front closure panel edge, on either sides of the reverse tail skirt vent. Straight cut sleeves feature cuffs in red wool. Tunic has a tail skirt with a central reverse tail skirt vent which features dual vertical scalloped flaps piped in red wool waffenfarbe. Tail skirt vent also has two sets, of 3 vertical, parallel, buttons to each side. Tunic has sew on shoulder straps of red wool construction. High, red wool, stand up collar. The last couple of inches on either side of the collar is made from a more course weave of red wool (replaced?). You can see the outline from where a metal number or letter had been at one time. Interior of tunic is fully lined in dark blue ribbed cotton material. Nice private tailors label is still affixed. Tail skirt and two vertical slash pockets to reverse of tail skirt vent. Sleeves are lined with the typical striped material. Exterior of tunic shows small areas of light nap wear and a couple of pinhole sized moth nips but is in overall very good condition. Collar end show some mothing. See photo’s. Overall, very nice example of a fairly scarce tunic.
