G002659 M89 PRUSSIAN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD. M89 Officer's sword with a double fuller blade, folding guard hilt and a celluloid grip. The blade is about 32" long, shows the typical light spotting but is still quite clean. Maker marked to Eickhorn. The folding guard has a Prussian Eagle with the cypher of King Wilhelm II on its breast. Celluloid grip is in very nice condition and has its original double wire wrap and leather finger guide/strap. Cypher for cypher of King Wilhelm II is attached to the center grip. All of the fittings including the guard and pommel are of blackened steel. The blackened steel scabbard is about 35" long and has an drag to the bottom edge and two sweated on horizontal scabbard bands with one hanger ring. Both of the small, dome headed throat retaining screws are intact. The sword is in good condition with an overall age patina to the hilt and the blade while the scabbard retains over 65% of its finish. Nice untouched example.
