G001768 KING FRIEDRICH WILHELM III 2ND CLASS HONOUR MEDAL. (Medallie) This medal was awarded from 1847-1918. A die struck silver medal measuring approximately 40mm in diameter. To the front, surrounded by wreath are the words "Verdienst Um Den Staat" or "Merit to the State." The opposite side has the initials in script of King Friedrich Wilhelm III. The suspension loop for the ribbon is firmly affixed to the medal. Included is a miniature medal measuring approximately10mm in diameter with the same detailing as the larger medal. The silk ribbon of white and orange is included, but not attached. Both medals show darkening typical of age, while the ribbon shows lights yellowing typical of age.
