G000759 IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVY ENGINEERING OFFICER'S VISOR CAP. (Schirmmütze) Nice quality, private purchase, dark blue/black wool construction cap with a black crushed velvet centerband and a non-removable top. The top crown edge and both the top and bottom edges of the centerband piped in the same navy blue/black wool as the balance of the cap. The front center of the centerband has a excellent hand embroidered Imperial oak-leaf wreath, kokarde and crown. The insignia is all high quality hand embroidered silver & gold bullion wire construction mounted on a dark blue badge cloth/wool. Insignia shows normal age tarnish and is correctly hand stitched to the centerband. The cap has a black patent leather chinstrap with two sliding, leather length adjustment loops and a metal buckle all intact. The chinstrap is secured to the cap by two, small, fire gilted, Imperial navy brass buttons. The buttons have a Imperial crown with an embossed fouled anchor and a simulated twisted rope outer edge. The cap has an extended (black lacquered top) leather forward visor. The interior of the cap is fully lined in mid-blue brushed silk. The interior of the cap also has a wide, black leather sweatband fully intact. Original owners name is hand embroidered into the caps liner. The cap is in overall very good condition. Roughly size 58. Hard cap to find, nice example
