H98151 DEACTIVATED SAUER M13 PISTOL.
(Pistole) BACKGROUND: J.P. Sauer and Sohn first engaged in producing military arms in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Their pistols, although never officially adopted by the German armed forces, were nonetheless a popular sidearm among staff officers and the police. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 5" long, blued metal pistol with black bakelite grips. It has a sliding action, to the top of which, along a ridge between its forward and rear sights, is stamped "J.P.Sauer & Sohn, Suhl." "Patent." is stamped to the left of the action, and "Cal. 6,35." is stamped to it’s right. A crowned "N" is stamped to the flat back of the cap at the end of the sliding action. Just above the trigger, and within its guard, is a thin lever which, with the action drawn back and it pushed upwards, locks the action open. To the exposed barrel may be seen a crowned "N" stamped along its right side. Depressing the trigger releases the locked action, and leaves the pistol cocked. A swiveling lever, with "S" stamped above it, is just forward of the left grip. The trigger cannot be depressed when this lever is slid downwards. "9251" is stamped above the left grip. Forward of the right grip is stamped a crowned "N." To the top of both grips is embossed "S & S." A magazine release catch is to the reverse base of the grip, and the magazine itself has "S & S 6,35" stamped to it. The pistol’s bluing has worn off of the forward edge of the trigger guard, to both sides of its action, and most of its edges. Significant surface spotting is evident to the action, and above each grip. The barrel has been filled, the firing pin removed, and the action has been soldered just behind its notched, rear sight.GRADE ***1/2 PRICE $195.00
