(Kopfsetzen Taschenlampe)BACKGROUND: German army personnel used a wide variety of field flashlights including both issue and private purchase models. This unique example was presumably designed for specialized usage and allowed for hand free operation.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Molded black bakelite construction headset flashlight consists of a forehead section with a black inverted "Y" shaped, rubber nose bridge to the center of the bottom edge. The front of the forehead section has a horizontally extended light bulb housing compartment. The light bulb housing has an overlapping top lip positioned above a small inset, recessed, angular, glass lens. The bottom edge of the light bulb housing has a small, extended, movable knob which activates an internal metal alloy dial with a small red and clear glass lenses allowing the operator to select the amount of light required. The light bulb housing has a small inset bar hinge to the top edge allowing the housing to be flipped back to access the light bulb. A light bulb is included. The side panels of the forehead section each have a vertically rectangular cut-out to accommodate the headband. The headband consists of two horizontally ribbed cotton strap with an addition small elastic strap to the reverse center. The headband also has a sliding sheet metal length adjustment buckle and corresponding sheet metal attachment hook and ring. The right hand side headband also has black rubberized electrical cord with two stitched on, cotton retaining loops. The headset has a white waffen-amt inkstamp. Very interesting headset flashlight with all the components in overall very good condition.
