H037966 "MILITARY" REICHSMARK BANKNOTE. (Geld) WWII German Military Payment Banknote. This is the banknote which the German soldier received his pay in, known as Behelfszahlungsmittel. 1 Reichspfennig denomination. To encourage soldiers to spend their money in official German canteens and reduce black marketeering, these notes were ingeniously worth ten times their face value if spent in an official German establishment rather than out on the local economy. Relatively common denomination but in excellent condition, which is important in determining values for currency.
