H031658 INFANTRY EM'S FRAMED PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPH. (Photographie)
BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc..
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 8 7/8" x 6 1/2", close-up, black and white portrait style photograph of a young enlisted Infantryman wearing a M42 or possibly and "oldstyle" Reichswehr overseas cap and a field blouse. The visible uniform details include a white piped shoulder strap, the general issue collar tabs and a breast eagle. The photograph is mounted on a tan card stock base and comes housed in a roughly, 12 1/2" x 10 1/4", silver painted, wood construction frame with a clear glass face intact. The photograph and frame are both in overall very good condition with minimal age toning.
