BACKGROUND: Basic human instinct dictates that soldiers in the field, regardless of nationality, long for their loved ones at home. As a result it was very common for these soldiers to have themselves photographed and send the photos home. As today, there were also numerous other reasons to pose for a photograph, new appointments, promotions, weddings anniversaries etc., etc..
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 5" tall, 3.5" wide, black and white photograph featuring a young enlisted man wearing a black overseas cap and black Panzer wrap tunic. The visible uniform details include, the cap insignia including a branch of service soutache, the shoulder straps, Totenkopf collar tabs, Panzer Badge and Iron Cross 2nd Class. The reverse of the photo has handwritten script that appears to include the date, "Jan. 42". The photograph is in overall very good condition with light age yellowing. Nice image.
