BACKGROUND: A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. These would be distributed to friends and family as a memorial item.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly, 4 3/8" x 2 5/8", light weight, card stock remembrance card with printed script and a black and white photograph of an, "Obergefreiter", serving with an, "Infanterie-Reg.", wearing a field-grey field blouse. The visible uniform details include the shoulder straps, collar tabs, a breast eagle and an Iron Cross 2^ND class ribbon. The script indicates the individual died as a result of an unfortunate accident in Russia on, "20. März 1943". The card is in overall good condition with minor age yellowing.
