H023659 INFANTRY LEUTNANT'S VISOR CAP, GREATCOAT, SERVICE TUNIC & PANTS. (Dienstanzug Gruppierung)

Wonderful uniform group that the consignor reports all belonged to the same individual. Group consists of Visor cap, greatcoat, tunic and piped trousers.

(1) Visor cap (Schirmmütze). Visor cap is an enlisted issue type that has been period upgraded to an officer by the addition of the chincord and silver pebbled officers button. Nice quality, visor cap with a field-grey wool body and crown with a subtle whipcord weave and a blue/green badge cloth centerband with white wool waffenfarbe to the crown edge and both the top and bottom edges of the centerband. The internal crown stiffening wire has been removed but the internal padding and a vertical stiffener to the internal front center are still intact and give the cap a nice, relaxed, saddle form shape with a high central peak. The front center of the cap has a aluminum, second pattern, national eagle with out-stretched wings. The front center of the centerband has a second pattern stamped aluminum oak-leaf wreath encompassing a three piece, high relief, national tri-color cockade. The national tri-color cockade consists of a black fluted alloy base, a silver washed alloy roundel and an inserted red wool center dot. The cap has a twisted silver/aluminum chin cord which is secured in place by two, small, silver washed, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal buttons. The cap has an extended, black lacquered vulcanfibre visor with a subtly raised lip at the forward edge. The interior of the cap is fully lined in orangish/tan cloth. The crown lining has a stitch hole outline wear a sweat diamond has been removed. Faint inkstamped size "56" marking to the top interior liner material. The interior of the cap also has an age and usage darkened, 1 ½ leather sweatband intact. The cap is in overall good condition with minor age and usage toning.

(2) M36 Leutnants Field Blouse. (Dienstrock für Offizier). Very nice quality, private purchase, field-grey, wool/rayon blend construction tunic features a vertical, six button front closure with dual metal hooks and eyes positioned at the forward neckline. The second top, front closure button eyelet has a Iron Cross 2nd class and Russian Front ribbons neatly handstitched in place. The tunic has four, pleated, patch front pockets with scalloped button down flaps. The right breast has an officers quality, hand embroidered, national eagle in bright silver/aluminum and bullion wire threads with green accent threads mounted on a cut-out, blue/green badge cloth base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic. The left breast pocket has two horizontal thread loops for wear of an award and three vertical thread loops for the ribbon bar. The reverse of the tunic has a small, central, vertical, tail skirt slash. The straight cut sleeves have deep, turned back, French cuffs which are stitched in the upright position at both the inner and outer sleeve seams. The tunic has sewn on Leutnants shoulder boards of matte, silver/aluminum Russian braid, mounted on white wool waffenfarbe bases. The shoulder board retaining buttons are intact. The tunic has a lay down, blue/green badge cloth construction collar which features hand embroidered collar tab litzen in matte silver/aluminum wire threads with the twisted, grass green rayon, branch of service stripes. The collar tabs are mounted on blue/green badge cloth bases which shows through the litzen as the center stripe and are machine stitched to the collar. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in ribbed, field-grey rayon with off-white, grey striped, rayon sleeves. The lining has two horizontal slash pockets and a horizontal slash to the reverse of the exterior left hip pocket for the dagger/sword hangers. The interior of the tunic also has a vertical, field-grey, rayon strap with an alloy friction clip, machine stitched to the left armpit seam for suspending the dagger/sword hangers. The left breast lining also has a machine woven, grey rayon tailor’s label with blue, machine woven script, that includes the tailor’s name and location, "G. Assmann". There is also another small tag that read "Des Herrenschneiderhandwerks Gütezeichen", (The Gentlemen’s Tailoring Trade Sign Of Quality). The buttons are all the field-grey painted, pebbled, magnetic sheet metal type and retain most of their original field-grey paint and appear to have their original stitching. The tunic is roughly size 36" chest. The tunic is in overall superb condition.

(3) M35 Leutnants Great Coat. (Mantel) Same private tailor as the above M36 Feldbluse. Nice quality, heavy, early, private purchase, field-grey doeskin wool construction, double breasted style, full length, greatcoat with a blue/green badge cloth lay down collar. The greatcoat features dual, vertical, parallel, rows of six front closure buttons with corresponding button holes on both the left and right front panels, enabling the coat to be button either left or right handedly. The has a single, large metal hook and eye positioned at the neckline. The greatcoat has two, diagonally angled, slash, front, hip pockets with slightly angular flaps situated at the waistline. The straight cut sleeves have deep fold back French cuffs which are tacked in the upright position at both the inner and outer sleeve seams. The reverse of the greatcoat has a horizontal, half waist belt with dual retaining buttons at the waistline and a central, vertical tail skirt vent with a three button closure. The tail skirt vent runs from the half waist belt down to the bottom edge of the coat. The greatcoat has sewn on Leutnants shoulder boards of matte, silver/aluminum Russian braid, mounted on white wool waffenfarbe bases. The shoulder board retaining buttons are intact. The greatcoat has a lay down blue/green badge cloth collar with no collar tabs as per regulations. The interior of the greatcoat is fully lined in grey rayon. The lining has a horizontal slash pocket to the left breast panel and a small horizontal slash to the reverse of the left exterior hip pocket intended for a sword/dagger hanger. The interior of the greatcoat also has a vertical, field-grey, rayon strap with an alloy friction for suspending the dagger/sword hangers. The friction clip is well marked with the embossed initials, "DRGM", indicating, Deutsche Reichs Gebrauchsmuster, (German National Registered Design). Machine woven, grey rayon tailor’s label with blue, machine woven script, that includes the tailor’s name and location, "G. Assmann". There is also another small tag that read "Des Herrenschneiderhandwerks Gütezeichen", (The Gentlemen’s Tailoring Trade Sign Of Quality). The greatcoat is in overall excellent. The buttons are a combination of the field-grey painted, pebbled, alloy and magnetic sheet metal types and they all retain the majority of their field-grey paint and appear to have their original stitching. The greatcoat is roughly size 36" chest. Has the original owners name on the inside pocket.

(4) Piped parade/walking out long trousers. (Tuchhose) Private purchase (same tailor as above), field-grey wool/rayon blend construction parade/walking out dress long pants feature a vertical, four button French fly with an additional button at the waistband. The horizontal waistband has seven evenly spaced, vertical belt loops. The front of the pants have two slightly diagonally angled, slash pockets and a small, horizontal slash watch pocket positioned at the bottom edge of the right waistband seam. The reverse of the pants has a horizontal slash pocket with single button to the right seat. The reverse of the pants also have two short vertical tapering darts and the side panels each have a horizontal, fit adjustment strap with a corresponding, blued, dual pronged, sheet metal buckle to each. The vertical outside leg seams each have inserted white rayon waffenfarbe piping. The pants have straight cut, non-adjustable cuffs. The interior waistband is lined in ribbed, white & black rayon and has four suspender buttons and an additional two, vertically extended, fabric tabs with a single button to each to the reverse center. The internal pocket bags are also in grey rayon. The buttons are a molded green have their original stitching. One surfaced mothed area to the right leg (can been seen in the photo), but other than that they are stone cold mint. The pants are roughly size 32" waist. Superb uniform set.
