H019259 M31 CANTEEN COVER. (Feldflasche 31 Decke) A brownish felt cover for the standard issue M31 canteen. It features an open neck and a closure extending half-way down one side, which has four blackened metal snap buttons to it. Each of the buttons has a patterned surface, and the maker’s mark, which appears to be "SHB". An aluminum stud is to the base of the cover, which mates with its carrying harness. Sewn to both its obverse and reverse faces are horizontal, blackened leather loops, also for the carrying harness. Age soiling is evident to the felt. All of the blackening to the metal buttons has worn off, and moderate surface spotting may presently be seen to them.
