(Feld Taschenlampe)BACKGROUND: The field flashlight was a standard issue item for all ranks and German army personnel utilized a wide variety of field flashlights including both private purchase and issued models. Generally the field flashlights were equipped with assorted colored lenses for signaling and dark, "black-out", lenses for camouflage purposes. This example appears to be a private purchase model.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The top of the front panel has embossed manufacturers name, "Daimon". The top edge of the flashlight has an vertical extended metal on/off switch. The on/off switch still functions. The side panels feature a vertical, staggered, internal bar hinge to one side and a pressure closure clip to the other side. The bottom edge of the flashlight has a small rectangular slash with a clear celluloid insert allowing the light to shine downwards. The reverse of flashlight has a small rivetted on, button holed, blackened leather tabs. The interior of the flashlight still retains all of is component parts. The flashlight retains about 85% of its original black paint. The flashlight appears as if it would still function with the correct battery.
