H014756 UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT BUTTON GROUP. (Knopf Gruppe)

BACKGROUND: The German army utilized a wide variety of different style buttons on its assorted uniform items with the standard tunic/field blouse buttons being the 19mm, (3/4") diameter, magnetic sheet metal or alloy type buttons with a pebbled surface. The next most common type of button encountered is the stamped magnetic sheet metal or alloy "dish" button that was usually utilized on pants and breeches, as ancillary buttons on the tunic and/or the field blouse and assorted field equipment items.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This group consists of twelve, stamped, 17mm, (5/8"), diameter, natural aluminum "dish" buttons with a central, circular, recess with three punched stitch holes to each. The unmarked buttons all show moderate age toning.
